QUOTATIONS OF "BLACK"
"Whenever I use BLACK it relates to some history of Africans in that particular place. It’s the idea of the color BLACK as a metaphor, or as a representation of African-Americans. It’s the notion of BLACK- BLACKNESS - and all its other meanings in relation to the history of race..."
- Fred Wilson
"Most of my fortitude to continue doing the work comes from the moral outrage I feel about the injustices that Black people endure disproportionately daily."
- N. Abdul-Wakil
"In the end, what matters is not skin shade but pan-African consciousness. Loving your complexion, your nose, lips, hair length and texture, no matter what the politics or trends decide, and simply be. That's the problem with us (African folks). I see what you mean about wanting to do a full feature. Pocket Knife does offer up some pretty interesting Pre-Vietnam and post-war possibilities. Can I buy a ticket now? Rod, a big thanks for bringing to light our story.
ReplyDeleteNamaste,
David
Hey David,
ReplyDeleteTHANKS so much for your comments.
And yeah, Pocket Knife will have his day again, and tell his story more broadly.
LOVE U man!
Dear Rod:
ReplyDeleteYou have all my respect and admiration for telling our stories. Instead of saying; "I wish someone would do a documentary film about this or that!" You just go ahead a do it. And we are richer for your efforts.
Much Love My Brutha
Ilunga Kisangani
Thanks Ilunga!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thoughts and reading Nubian nights Network. I'm humbled. :-)
